This morning while I started writing this piece, I got a call from a classmate of mine. She asked me to congratulate her, citing her bagging a job in Italy as the reason. For a few moments, I was dumbstruck. Guessing my astonishment, she hung up by quoting one of her favourite authors.
‘Work, save, travel, repeat’.
Well, that was some real-time motivation, and also enough for me to not suffer #WednesdayBlues and to look for some #WednesdayMotivation instead.
Talking of motivation, why not start the day with why should you travel more frequently. Here’s a sneak peek.
MOVING OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE FOR A CHANGE
Well yes, before you travel, a lot of homework needs to be done with regards to your stay, exploring the nearby places, shopping, etc. When was the last time you did some actual research under the following heads? Of course, it is a lot different than sitting at your office desk and delivering your daily tasks!
MAKING MORE FRIENDS
Imagine waking up on a balmy morning, amid English breakfast tea, scrambled eggs and sausages in the lap of nature. In case, you are putting up in a five star with a complimentary breakfast, there are high chances that you would bump into some fellow travellers, who are also in search of something. In today’s age, almost everyone is tied up with their daily chores. Getting a proper friends’ attention is really far fetched these days. In that case, travel does the honours for you. You meet people, make friends, explore the unexplored, and set off on the voyage to rediscover yourself.
DISCOVERING CULTURAL DIVERSITY
It is a no brainer that the more you travel, the more you get exposed to the cultural diversities across the globe. Surely, travel is a great way to immerse oneself in the cultural diversity that all of us should know about. There are diversities from food to festivals, weddings to funerals. All combined, it is really unique to see how various ethnic groups and tribes try to celebrate life and traditional customs and traditions that teach us a lot in our everyday lives. In case you are always in search of content all the time (like me), then what can get better than just travel?
SAY HELLO TO ADVENTURES
Travel gives you an opportunity to tickle your adventurous bones. No matter what your travel plans are, there are high chances that you would get to witness some marvellous adventures along the way. A lot of times, it is just the everyday encounters that provide for unimaginable experiences. They are very high chances that you would have lots of stories to tell, as you head home.
YOUR RESUME MIGHT GET A NEW LOOK
Employers these days are not only on the lookout for hard skills, over the days they are fond of soft skills too. For example, if there is a gap in your professional career for a year, employers these days consider this as an opportunity and a sign of maturity that provides for being a better person, due to the exposure. Mostly people would understand that travel improves confidence, independent thinking that actually accounts for a lot of integrity.
YOU MIGHT PICK UP SOME NEW LANGUAGES
Travel is one of the best excuses to pick up a new language. It so happens that once you are immersed in a new destination, you yourself would be astonished at how fast your language skills develop. This usually happens when you interact everyday with the local based there, you kind of know the basics like ‘Hello, how are you?’ The locals on seeing your attitude might also find it pleasing enough!
YOU GET A NEW PERSPECTIVE TO LIFE
If you are an urban individual, growing up with all the comforts of the modern world, you kind of get used to the sedentary lifestyle that you are leading Travelling makes us witness a lot of things that we had never seen before.
I remember I had travelled once to the outskirts of Uttaranchal, where I spotted an old man roaming without any woollen clothes in the biting cold of 4 degrees! When I encountered him, he said that he doesn’t feel cold, because he doesn’t let the feeling of coldness to enter him. Well, truly speaking, this was a great perspective of life that I gained. Am sure it gets better with time and the more you travel.
LEAVES YOU WITH AN INFECTIOUS HAPPINESS
Lastly, justifying my title of ‘Travel – Just for the Sake of it’ leaves you with an insane amount of happiness. While some people think that while you are far away from your home, you ditch all modern comforts, friends, family and beloved belongings from your house. But, what they don’t realise that you are incredibly happy and ecstatic. I guess, it is because of the everyday discovery of new destinations, foods, culture, and friends!
Here are the enlisted reasons for you to travel more and more. Of all of these, the last one is my personal favourite. Remember, you are blessed with just one life, and why waste your valuable time pondering over countless thoughts. Why not, discover something anew and afresh? As somebody correctly said, “Better to see something once, than hear about it a thousand times.”
We say, no more procrastinating, just TRAVEL. Well, FOR THE SAKE OF IT!
