Editor’s Note Aug 2018
Just when I was sitting to fire the keys in the laptop for writing this piece, PSP console and joystick was sitting pretty in the corner and roaring to get started for another round of gaming. Gaming is a serious play and now a multi-billion dollar industry. Much opposed to the popular perception, gaming is not really a ‘lazy-couch thing’. Just like any other sport, it has team play, strategies, agility and makes you a quick-thinker and a decision-maker. You have to plan your next move in nanoseconds or you get hit and are out of the game. Yes, physically it’s not that challenging as an outdoor sport but mentally, it’s at par if not above of any game, along with the fact that it’s damn addictive. Hence we decided to celebrate this addiction and the whole gaming industry with the first-ever India Gaming Awards where we have made sure that every corner is touched, cleaned and refurbished. It is our first ever gaming awards with our partner Nodwin Gaming and honestly, we are very kicked about it. We will take you through the award night in the following issue unless you have already soaked it in through thetechy.com and our other social handles. Also don’t forget the special gaming supplement which has come bundled with this issue.
August is a very busy month for us – for one thing it preludes the lull before the epic upcoming months where we are going to roll out the launch of our Exhibit Talents Division, Tech Fashion Tour 4.0 on 18th Oct at JW Marriott, Mumbai, 501 Startups – where we are geting ready to put up the biggest startups event of the country on 18th & 19th Nov at The St. Regis, Mumbai, which is followed by the 4th edition of Exhibit Tech Awards 2018 and the 1st edition of Exhibit Auto Awards. So, it is a high time from now to the end of 2018 before we bring in 2019 like every year with CES, Las Vegas. We already witnessed the launches from the big brands like Blackberry KEY2, Vivo NEX, Huawei Nova 3 and expect more of it as there are many grand launches lined up. Every brand will put their best Ammo out and fire up to take the festive spirit and encash on all the consumers, spending to get their piece of the market share.
It’s also our 71st year of Independence and the journey looks impressive. Instead of focusing on the patriotic part of it, we are looking at what we are good at and how tech has been successful in making us more independent. It has worked its way on being our personal assistants fitting in our smartphone. The solution to every problem is literally in your pocket, be it dealing with debts or even a mental therapy. We have also reassessed the current scenario of startups in India. Shreya from our team has tried to pull out all the required guidelines you might need if you are thinking about starting your own startups along with a dig at all the Unicorn Startups where we have enlightened the list of all the Indian geniuses that are big globally.
Now on our cover, we have the bold and the beautiful, Kiara Advani, looking fresh from the success of Lust Stories. The movie was widely celebrated and we can certainly make out the progress from the confidence and power that she walks into the shoot. That’s all for now.
Do check out the making of our Augusr Issue cover in this behind the scenes video-
