In a free-flowing conversation with Harsha Prerna, he revealed his thoughts on the raging social media and the current scene of music in Bollywood.

EX: Let’s start with discussing your thoughts on Social media, music promotion, and digital Streaming?

AK: It’s great to have platforms so that the listeners can know who has made the song that they really like so they know where to get the music from. For us, Instagram is a top platform for our listeners to interact. Although YouTube is still the number 1 platform for streaming music, Spotify India is releasing soon and will become a major platform for promoting Indian music.

EX: Describe your relationship with technology?

AK: Technology plays a vital role in the industry that I am in as it helps me connect with my fans. Technology helps us make the music as well as promote the music. Capturing content is as important as making content. I always make sure that I use the best technology to give my listeners the best quality content. Because of technology I can connect to music followers and other artists all around the world just from my phone. Technology has now become a part of life.

EX: The best and the worst thing about being in this profession? how would you like to describe the life of a playback singer?

AK: As a playback singer, the worst part is not knowing when your next song will be. And the best thing is when you do get a song and it becomes a super hit.

EX: What do you do when you’re not dubbing or doing a gig?

AK: I watch football and love playing board games. Drink lots of tea, party with my friends, travel and catch up with friends.

EX:  Recently, a lot of actors have been trying their luck in singing. what are your thoughts on that?

AK: I think there’s no such rule. I believe anyone can sing and be free to express themselves whether it’s acting or singing. I recently did a show with Shraddha Kapoor during Half Girlfriend promotion tour where she sang LIVE and it was amazing.

EX: One thing you’d like to change in the current music scene?

AK: I would love if singers collaborated with each other more, outside of Bollywood.

EX: Are you a social networking addict? how many times in a day do you check updates?

AK: Social networking is always a fun thing and I love the fact that part of being an artist is social networking so I win both ways.

EX: If given a chance to invent a gadget, what would that be?

AK: A gadget that helps me keep negativity away.

EX: Tell us about a time when you had to handle an unruly audience member?

AK: I try and calm the person down and then I rely on my team to diffuse the situation.

EX: How often and for how long do you practice your craft?

AK: Between rehearsals, recordings, jamming and live shows my entire day get taken up singing. So that becomes my practice.

EX: If you weren’t into this field, what would you be doing?

AK: I’d probably be a chef.

EX: What can we expect next on the cards?
