How to revamp your office?

If change is the only constant, then perpetually tweaking different aspects of your life is a wise habit to keep. To make sure that you are always motivated to give your best at work and to prevent entering the vicious circle of monotony, consider adding a little colour and a dash of edge to your workplace. Introducing a few new elements into your workplace will do wonders and here’s how you can do it.

1. INVEST IN ATTRACTIVE AND QUALITY FURNITURE

Expose yourself to the marvellous world of blogs, online stores and catalogues and you’ll come across thousands of ideas for creatively placing furniture pieces around in the office that are creative, quirky, and just right for your taste. With a horde or innovative designs for chairs, tables, desks, couches and sofas to choose from, revamping the office becomes a whole lot easier than what it appears to be. Keep at least one eye-catching piece and place printed diverse fabrics on your furniture for some change.

2. MAKE IT QUIRKY!

A defining factor for any office is its culture and character. To enhance it, you can add fun elements by leaving aside a wall for creative graffiti or post-its with messages written by employees. You can also have people chalk some messages on it or put up inspirational quotes on it. Also, investing in a whiteboard is a wise option not only to depict something, but also to leave motivational quotes on it when not in use. Lastly, you can also have a common “mood board” having posters, quotes, pictures and other contributions from everyone at work.

3. DECLUTTER AND ORGANISE

With the existing work load vying for your attent and causing stress attacks all day long, the last thing you’d want is more work and more stress. Additionally, the heap of papers, files, and the many irrelevant miscellaneous items on your desk, that need maintenance, add to the existing clutter. Contrary to that, there will be people actually needing all those things. In both cases, having additional storage cupboards, drawers or shelves will help bring order to the chaos. Not only will they keep your desk clean and manageable, but also provide a welcome change to you.

4. PERSONALISE YOUR CUBICLE WALL

When you spend hours in the same place, probably staring at the computer screen, maintaining the same energy level and motivation becomes a tad bit difficult. In such a scenario, if you have all your favourite pictures, artwork, memories and write-ups staring back at you as they sit on the soft-board, sailing though the day becomes much easier. Hence, think about personalising your cubicle or your area of the desk to add some element of yourself into your workplace be it motivating quotes, a picture of your family or a poster of your favourite film.

5. INVEST IN BRAND NEW STATIONERY

Updating and upgrading your office stationary will elevate your mood when it comes to using them. Put up planners and so you tasks and goals are right in front you. Go invest in good quality office supplies, bright and attractive looking pens, pencils, diaries, staplers and other similar handy objects. Simultaneously, organise your stationery in a neat and chic manner by getting partition trays, pencil-holders, and in turn keep your desk tidy.

6. GET COMFORTABLE AND BRIGHT

It’s a proven fact that lighting up your surrounding instantly brightens up the mood, warding away laziness. Adding more lights to the office and placing desk lamps will brighten your physical and mental state of mind, restoring concentration. Maintain your comfort by keeping your computer screen at eye-level and maintaining a minimum distance from the screen. By doing this, you will reduce the amount of stress caused to your eyes.

7. GET THAT FANCY ON!

A very important contributing factor to increasing workplace productivity is the ambience. Get your fancy on by putting on pretty photo-frames to make your boring walls more appealing. Place scented candles to maintain a pleasant and de-stressing ambience throughout the day. Other common options include getting some plants to make your office lively and re-painting the office walls with interesting accent colours.
