  1. Why photography?

\n

It was one of the subjects I was studying during my art course at RMIT Melbourne, Australia. I developed my first roll of film and fell in love!

\n\n

2. How did you break into fashion photography?

\n

When I started shooting for designers based in Delhi, for their look books, campaigns and fashion week. This was back in 2005.

3. Five basic qualities any fashion photographer should possess?

\n

    \n

  •  Style (understanding it as well as being able to showcase his/her unique sense of it in his/her work).
  • \n

  • Lighting (this can make or break your photo so lighting is the most important).
  • \n

  • Patience (a very important and much needed quality to have).
  • \n

  • Passion (without this your work will suffer).
  • \n

  • A good camera.

4. Your photography is influenced by?

\n

A mixture of things, but mostly by other artists I look up to, as they challenge me to better myself as an artist.

\n

The internet .

\n\n

6. The camera you use?

\n

Nikon D810.

\n\n

7. When you are not shooting, you are?

\n

Staying Fit and Dj’ing. I also have a small non-profit organization called Puppy Love in Delhi, where we feed, neuter and get street dogs adopted into loving homes.

\n\n

8. Your best shoot till date?

\n

Kundalini Arts.

\n\n

9. The website or blog you often visit?

\n

I don’t really.

\n\n

10. The biggest challenge photographers face today?

\n

Getting paid what they are worth.

\n\n

11. If not a photographer, you would be?

\n

Most likely in music or acting, I love the performance arts and I’m slowly trying to involve myself in that even now.

\n\n

12. Your dream camera?

\n

I used to love shooting with the Mamiya 645, so probably that.

\n\n

13. Who are you shooting next?

\n

No Idea! The preparation you do before a shoot? Usually, a lot of meetings go in to discuss the finer details, back and forth about shoot concepts and ideas, casting of talents and team and so on.

\n\n

14. Does every image need to have a purpose?

\n

Tricky question! I would like to say yes but sometimes I think that’s impossible. The best tip for a budding photographer? Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!
