Editor’s Note May 2017
It’s been 12 years! They say if you can survive 10 years, then you have planted the right seeds to take the company legacy forward for over a 100 years. I would like to believe that surely, normally magazines have the longest shelf life just like some of the most reputed brands in the world which are almost 75 to 100 years old and still smell as hot as fresh cakes from the oven.
Doing what we do best again, crossing one milestone after another is exactly what we are celebrating this month. So time to get super nostalgic as we bring in Exhibit’s 12th Anniversary. Sure it’s been a ride but what’s the fun if things come to you easily? Running a Media Company that dominates Print, Web, TV, Events and a myriad of other opportunities that are thrown open in front of you is just awesome and insane. When I had set out to start this leaving behind a 35-year-old family business that just required me to “manage things” being the only son of a Marwari family was not easy. To make life complicated, I was challenged without any funds to pursue my dream. And dreams do come true if you are dogged and passionate to pursue the unknown. Exhibit Tech Awards, thetechy.com, thewheelz. com, Tech Fashion Tour, Hottest 100 Startups and Leaders in Tech Dinner which is all set to debut this month – we sure didn’t have a smooth ride but who the hell wants it easy when tough looks as good and exciting as our journey!
Speaking of milestones, April saw Exhibit successfully host and close the 3rd edition of Exhibit’s 100 Hottest Startups with great furore. We couldn’t have been prouder, even more so after the Budget and our very own Indian government giving absolute freedom and amazing perks to startups. Next up is our exclusive invite only “Leaders In Tech Dinner” on 25th May at St Regis, Mumbai.
Yes, it’s the May issue which is the starstudded and it is quite definitely a big deal at the Exhibit Pad.This time we went the throwback road by releasing the Collector’s issue as we rounded up the best since June 2016. Picking our favourite stories on the way from across all of our sections, we came to finally get this beauty in hand. Sticking to the theme and the number 12, we also dug up the past of leading companies and penned an article on their past present and the future. We also managed to get the Man of the Moment to share his brawny yet brainy personality with us. Anniversary issue is a big deal for us so we want to make the loudest noise and I guess we have succeeded. Baahubali superstar – Rana Daggubati – made a return on our cover and he absolutely makes for a perfect choice. We knew beforehand that Baahubali is going to be the biggest movie that Indian cinema has produced and when I called Rana to once again be on our cover exclusively, he did find time to do the déjàvu. When Baahubali 1 was out, he was on our cover too and that completes the story now.
12 years is a long time. Live changing events have occurred – the world looks nothing like it did 12 years ago and the face of technology is not recognisable. Imagine a world without Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and Snapchat and you will know what I am talking about.
They say the journey of 10,000 miles starts with a single step, surely we have reached far but there are more flights to be taken and the business of content generation and connecting people has got supremely exciting just like the larger than life flick – Baahubali. Enjoy the issue and a very deep & sincere thanks to each one of you who have been reading this for all the love and support.
But as they say – “The most dangerous poison is the feeling of achievement. The antidote is to every evening think what can be done better tomorrow” Never stop Hustling!
So until next month and many many more months…
