3D PRINTERS AND THEIR CREATIONS
3D printing is just evolving and is in its germinating phase but the phenomenal and powerful 3D printers have created masterpieces that one hardly imagined. 3D printers are the printers of future where printing would not only be limited to paper but one can print anything and everything.
Seeing the kind of objects that these printers have already created, it is obvious that printing anything is possible in times to come. Not only this, 3D printers will find their uses in every domain ranging from medicine to fashion, education and almost everything.
Here we are covering few of the out of the box creations of 3D Printers that have left everyone awestruck.
A 3D printed Jaw Bone
LayerWise, a company that specializes in 3D printing of metallic structures, created a first ever 3D printed jaw implant for an 83-year-old woman suffering from a lower jaw infection Infections. Aliments like hers are normally remedied with reconstructive surgery, but doctor’s deemed the procedure too risky because of her age and health. 3D printers were the only possible option left for the doctors.
In the process, Titanium powder was melted with a high-precision laser into layers, taking into account the computer model of the jaw. The computer model was then digitally divided into 2D layers and printed at 33 layers per millimetre. The 3D printing made it possible to create an implant that just as intricate and useful as the real thing.
3D Printed Blood Vessels
A team at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany has solved created blood vessels that will be used in organ transplants using 3D printing and a technique called multiphoton polymerisation.
The main reason for creating these 3D blood vessels is to make sure more patients receive these life-saving surgeries in time. The researchers in the domain of tissue engineering all over the globe have been working on creating artificial tissue and even entire organs in the lab. Inorder to print something as small and complex as a blood vessel, the scientists combined the 3D printing technology with two-photon polymerisation – shining intense laser beams onto the material to stimulate the molecules in a very small focus point.
3D Printed Bikini
3d Printers have also printed the most sensuous of all women clothing- a bikini. The N12 bikini is the world’s first ready-to-wear, completely 3D-printed article of clothing. All its pieces, closures included, are printed using 3D printing. These have been snapped together without any sewing needed. N12 represents the beginning of what is possible for the near future. It is named for the material it’s made out of: Nylon 12.
This solid nylon material is created using SLS 3D printing process. The material is strong and its strength allows it to bend without breaking, even when printed very thin. It comprises a minimum wall thickness of .7 mm, it is possible to make working springs and almost thread-like connections. For a bikini, the nylon is perfectly functional because it is waterproof and more comfortable when wet.
3D Printed Glasses
The 3D printed glasses is another hottest accessory printed from 3D printer. The glasses have featured on the runway at New York Fashion Week earlier this year. This is a creation from one of New York’s busiest tech startups: 3D printed glasses from MakerBot.
At designer Asher Levine’s fashion show, models were spotted sporting multicolored glasses fabricated in a MakerBot3D printer. The device allows users to download and scan designs, which are then “printed” as physical objects. These 3D glasses were a huge hit.
3D Printed Food!
After dominating the medicine and fashion domain, 3D printers are also being used to develop foodstuff and that too, the most tempting-Chocolates! We can call it a delicious renaissance that printers are about to produce and we will enjoy. This innovative and whimsical 3D chocolate printer from the masterminds at Choc Edge has finally become available to the masses, after its limited availability. The Choc Creator Version 1, as it’s called, will not cost you as much as a bar of chocolate does. People!, you have to pre-order a unit, which will cost a whooping £2,488 (about $3,500) , that too if you’re one of the first lucky 90 people to do so.
Well, these were just handful but truly incredible and innovative 3D printer creations, handpicked especially for you, to help you know the gigantic evolution of 3D printers. In a very short span of time, printing everything on your wish list will be possible, conveniently.
Today, communication has completely become paperless, and in times to come, printers too will be phenomena that use to be identified with papers. Papers will be history and 3D, the new reincarnation of printing domain.
